Lorne’s preferred areas of practice are corporate and commercial law, real estate, and wills, estate planning and estate administration.

Lorne was admitted to the Alberta Bar in 1976, and spent 20 years with the local firm of Virtue & Co. where he became a partner in 1982. In 1996 he became a founding partner of Torry Lewis Abells LLP. He has been a member of the Law Society of British Columbia since 1982. Lorne was appointed as Queen’s Council in 2006.
Lorne taught Business Law at the Lethbridge Community College for 21 years before retiring from that position in 1998.
Lorne is very active in the community. He was a board member of the Southern Alberta Community Living Association, Chairman of the Rehabilitation Society, and a board member of the Samaritans (a crisis line for the depressed and suicidal). He also served 2 terms on the University of Lethbridge Senate and as Chairman of the Development Appeal Board.
In 2004 Lorne was appointed by the Minister of Seniors and Community Supports for the Province of Alberta to sit on the Southern Alberta Board for Persons with Developmental Disabilities. He served as Chairman from 2009 to 2012.
